Admission interview
Prospective students applying to the Master’s Programme in The Ancient Mediterranean World at the University of Pavia may need to undergo an admission interview.
The interview is short (max. 15/20 minutes) and aims at ascertaining the motivations and interest for the study of the ancient Mediterranean world, as well as the familiarity with the history, art history, and archaeology of the Mediterranean, and/or the competence on world history/archaeology and theory and methods associated with them.
All students holding a degree obtained abroad, once deemed eligible, must take the admission interview
Here are the specific cases in which an admission interview is required or may be waived for students holding an Italian bachelor's degree:
Students who have earned a Bachelor’s Degree in classes L-1, L-5, or L-10 (per DM 270/04) or classes 5, 13, or 29 (per DM 509/99) from the Department of Humanities at the University of Pavia, with a final grade of at least 90/110, and who meet the English language proficiency requirements, are eligible for direct enrollment.
No admission interview is required in this case.
Students who obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in the specified classes (L-1, L-5, L-10, DM 270/04 or 5, 13, 29, DM 509/99) from an Italian university other than the University of Pavia must take the admission interview. Interview registration and additional details are available here.
Italian students without a formal English language certification or who have not completed at least 12 CFUs in English language courses during their Bachelor’s Degree must take the admission interview. The registration process, including a €35 fee for the admission test, is outlined on this page.
Students with a Bachelor’s Degree in the required classes from the University of Pavia’s Department of Humanities, but with a final grade lower than 90/110, must also take the admission interview. Instructions for registration are available on this page.
