Pavia@Rome. An archaeological tale of two cities

The project is designed as “scaled-up” between two cities, and in fact it will start in Pavia going on to Rome, developing between Ticinum and the Urbs, from the beginning of the year 2025.

For Ticinum, the project plans to analyse in depth with new methodologies the preserved features from the Roman era, restoring the contexts; in Rome, on the other hand, the focus will be on the Esquiline hill, an area previously used as a necropolis and then became the site of luxurious residences and gardens inhabited by emperors -  today a lively district where different traditions, cultures, languages and religions coexist.

The work will involve students and young scholars, who will be engaged in study and fieldwork. Each in their own language will be called upon to share the results through initiatives with citizens, for a proximity archeology, and tourists, to provide them with new information.
