Kınık Höyük archaeological project (Cappadocia, TR)

Excavations and restorations activities at Niğde-Kınık Höyük started in 2011 as an international project led by L. d'Alfonso on behalf of UNIPV and ISAW-NYU. With the years the project grew, and since 2022 it is led by M. Pucci (UNIFI), who started extensive investigations of the lower town. NYU and UNIPV are responsible for excavating the preclassical occupation of the mound, and collaborate in excavating the mound with B. Yolaçan 9-Eylul Uni İzmir excavating the classical remains on the mound.
The site was occupied from the third millennium BCE to the 1 century CE. Particularly important are the good stratigraphy of the Iron Age occupation, as well as the Hellenistic occupation featuring a sanctuary and the adjoining cultic plaza.
Excavation occur every year during the summer (July-August)
