Dear colleagues and students,

We learnt today that Marco De Pietri passed away in Rome.

Marco obtained both his MA and PhD degree in our department, and actively collaborated in research and teaching.

His enthusiasm for the antiquities was contagious, and his kindness and attentiveness to others was a hallmark of his personality.

In our MA program, he has been teaching a module of History of ancient western Asia since the program's inception.

He is missed, and we mourn his loss
